Q7

This is what my characters say in my Voki, which didn't work.

We aimed to represent a middle class modern family and the stereotype of the female ,being the weaker gender and how they are always the maiden who needs saving. By having the opening to the film being an establishing shot of the house, this implied before the movie started that it was set in the modern day. The reason we did this was to add to the thought of, that this could happen to an everyday person in there homes which is a safe haven for most people.
However It was hard to show that our main character was an everyday girl in our opening, as we did a montage. This meant only little snippets of the film and story line / theme where seen. In our opening, the main character Mia is already possessed, sticking to the stereotype that the female is the one that needs saving. However this meant that it was unclear to understand who she was as she was already possessed.

With the villain character we challenged the idea of Propps main character types. ( Hero, Villain , Damsel )as the villain in our thriller is never seen and is a paranormal/religious myth. The audience have no idea what gender the villain is or if the villain is real. This keeps our thriller more mysterious and adds to how the thriller is religious as this could challenge if God/Demons are real.

We stuck to Propps idea of a false hero. In our thriller the false hero is the mother,as she committed sins in her younger life and is now the reason her child is suffering. But none of the family know this. Therefore she hides behind a fake act of how upset and concerned she is for her child and pretending to not know why this has happened. The mother is dressed in stereotypical clothing , jeans and a top as you can see on the burning photos.  However you can also see on the burning photos that the child (Mia) is mainly held by her farther. This is because Mia never made a strong connection with her mum, as she reminds her mum of the sins, she committed. This goes with the representation and stereotype of Mia being a ‘daddy's princess’.
